Jane's outcross son Calvin Cool is the Toy Fox Terriers O'BJ Home Page representative. We bred him once before I gave him to a local couple. Someday I'll will write about Calvin's new role as therapy dog.
In Calvin's litter from Ch. Zona there were only two males. I chose one to keep but Bill said him to the football coach and keep the black-saddled male. Bill was never wrong. That puppy became the legendary Ch. Hugely Handsome O'BJ
Born August of 2003, Hugely became the #2 Toy Fox Terrier in only a handful of shows, breeder-owner-handled and with no advertising. He lost twice as a class dog, the first show due to politics and the second time (same weekend as I recall) due to my ineptness at presenting a properly groomed dog to All-Breeds judge Joe Gregory, a former top handler. Mr. Gregory gave him a major RW and referred to him as "rough." I decided to learn how to groom!
His third loss was to a lovely bitch for BB and we cheered her in the Group. Hugely quickly accumulated a string of Group placements and was being "talked about" by the judges, many of whom said they had been looking forward to seeing him move. And move he did!
Hugely shot to fame breeder-owner-handled with no advertising. He was defeated only four times in his lifetime, from his first to his last shows which were back-to-back Group II wins with three of the nation's top ranked toy dogs in the Group.
His
fourth and final "loss" was first Award Of Merit at the 2005 Toy Fox Terrier
National Specialty Show under Michele Billings. It was a record-breaking
entry of 114 Toy Fox Terriers including with 34 Champions. So okay, he
didn't take the breed but it would be a dishonor to the outstanding competition
to call it a loss.
The next day, he was Best Of Breed at the Supported Entry under Beverly Lehnig. We had never seen her before, knew nothing about her, etc. but it didn't matter. He did his thing and she fell in love.
We had to quit showing due to my husband's advancing cancer but Hugely passes on his faultless structure, "get out of my way" movement, perfect dentition, and cocky, ultra-masculine personality.
